PSYCLE is a free OpenSource Music Production Studio that offers unlimited (opinions may vary!) possibilites for creating your own music in a professional way. It has an Old-School Tracker interface, but it supports VST Plugins and VST Instruments in addition to samples, to let your wildest music ideas come true. RandyTab is a guitar tablature authoring application. It includes a number of features that make creating tablature very easy. These include full undo of up to one-hundred actions, cut/copy/paste, and both keyboard and mouse selection. It also includes a number of tablature symbols that allow the user to create a very wide variety of tablature with minimal effort.

The Universal Music Machine (UMM) is a free, easy-to-use, program which helps contemporary composers create complex textures which would be very tedious to work out by hand. You supply the source material in the form of pitches, rhythms, dynamic markings, or any combination of these elements and/or "sets" of these elements, and UMM will create a MIDI sequence using the desired algorithms. The sequences can be played back inside the program or exported to a score editor.

The DeeSampler is a powerful software Drum and Percussion “Sampler” for Musicians, Audio Engineers, and Sound Designers. With the DeeSampler you can create Copyright free “Drum Loops” and sound effects using ordinary Wave files as source sounds. You can also playback up to 2048 Wave files/Drum Loops by assigning them to a Midi key range, just as in a hardware sampler. Each Wave “sample” can have up to 24 voices, allowing many thousands of sounds to be performed at once, even on an inexpensive computer.

Poodles & Flan: Act I is a tool, a meta-composer, a kind of "paramusic" browser! It combines self-similarity, serialism, stochastics and Burroughsian "cut & paste" to generate MIDI compositions that are bounded by a user-defined palette of musical parameters (tempo, scales, chord types, modifiers, orchestration, etc.) These compositions are full of wonderful polyphonic textures, eccentric rhythms and self-similar structures. They can sound like jazz, classical, avant-garde or ethnic. And sometimes not.... !!!

Functional Ear Trainer is an ear training program to learn to recognize notes in the context of a key using a method that really works! Traditional ear training progams typically let you guess scales, chords, and intervals "as is". Functional Ear Trainer is different, the user can select a key and the computer will play a cadence to clearly define the particular key, followed by a random note. The user must then guess the note within this harmonic context.

PartyTime Jukebox is a visual jukebox type application for PC, designed to be used in a home, commercial or business setting. Its interface was meticulously designed to be of utmost ease of operation for users of all ages and can even be set-up on a touch screen monitor. The perfect assistant for any DJs, it will also manage very well on its own as a stand alone virtual jukebox machine. The software is freeware and fully functional to all personal end users however if you use the software in any commercial manners, you must obtain a license. Weird Metronome is a program designed to beat out time on a Windows computer using the Midi hardware present in most (all?) sound cards. It is able to play measures of length up to 1000 beats, with totally customizable emphasis of beats. I wrote it to fill the needs of the eastern European folk music community, since many folk songs have weird meters like 11/16 or 21/32. Most metronome programs that currently available for free on the internet concentrate solely on "normal" western meters like 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8.. All this and more in a tiny little download of 18 K!

FractMus is a FREEWARE algorithmic-music generator, that is, it creates melodies using mathematical formulas. But, YOU are the composer, FractMus will create no masterpiece for you, nor was it designed for that! Think of it as a tool which gives you raw material that you can later use in your compositions. In the end, it is always your inventiveness that makes a composition better or worse, FractMus just gives you the "inspiration".

Pianotab: The New Method of Writing Music! Pianotab piano notation is a more readable method of noting music for the piano or similar keyboard. Each staff corresponds to an octave, the white space between lines corresponds to a white note on the keyboard. The lines are used both as separators and to denote the black notes as designated at the left of the staff. This allows a simple, sensible relation between what you see on the page and what you play on the keyboard. The download is a picture (.gif) file which you can open in any Paint program and then print it.

VPiano allows you to play your synth by making the computer keyboard into a 4-octave piano keyboard. Sure, you're probably not going to be able to play classical music this way, but you can experiment and have fun using a very different interface than normal, which can sometimes help to stimulate the creative process. You must have a MIDI output device, as well as a sound source to use this program (anything from a Soundblaster to a Midi TimePiece will do); then just run the program, configure the MIDI devices, and start jamming!
