Java implementation of a desktop search engine that indexes files of the following types with their complete content (if the document is not read-protected): HTML-documents; XML-documents; StarOffice6.0-/OpenOffice 1.0-documents (Writer, Calc, Impress) and later versions; MS Word documents; PDF documents; Plain text files. For other arbitrary file types the file name can be indexed.

Open folder for browsing or launch file after search, Options for case sensitivity, include path in search, and subdirectories. Requires the .NET platform, will run on other versions of Windows if this is installed.

Windows provides no method for getting a hard copy or editable list of files within a directory. FileSort is a win9x command line program (DOS) which will get a directory listing of all the files in a folder matching a specified wildcard, and automatically sort them into subfolders based on their names and the options you choose. It is most useful for those who download stuff on a semi-regular basis, but don't have time to sort through it very often, leading to large buildup of files in the download folder(s). NEW - sort files alphabetically (rather than by base name), and a smaller DLL (almost one third the size of the original).

Xteq X-Find is a great program to find what you are looking for. Simply select where and what it should search and press "Go"; that's all you need to do. You can even specify a text that it should find inside the files. After the requested files have been found, select one and X-Find will display it in the same window (no extra program is started).
